Released 2021, UK

The Creation was formed in 1966 from the beat combo The Mark Four and was quickly signed to a production deal with Shel Talmy, The Who's producer. Their first release was the urgent "Making Time," which featured guitarist Eddie Phillips playing his guitar with a violin bow, two years before Jimmy Page started doing so. Creation Records founder Alan McGee named his label after the band and named his band Biff Bang Pow after one of their songs. In 1995, he came up with the idea of The Creation recording a song called "Creation" to be released on the Creation label. Following reunion shows at The Mean Fiddler in 1993 and 1995, the original lineup reconvened, and the recordings expanded into an album. "Power Surge" was released in 1996. The album is pressed on 140-gram clear vinyl.

Other Information

The Creation, formed in 1966 from the beat combo The Mark Four, quickly caught the attention of Shel Talmy, The Who's producer. Their debut release, "Making Time," showcased guitarist Eddie Phillips playing his guitar with a violin bow, a technique predating Jimmy Page by two years.

Alan McGee, founder of Creation Records, drew inspiration from the band, naming both his label and his own band, Biff Bang Pow, after The Creation's songs. In 1995, McGee orchestrated The Creation's recording of "Creation," released on the Creation label. Following reunion performances at The Mean Fiddler in 1993 and 1995, the original lineup regrouped, leading to the creation of the album "Power Surge," released in 1996.

This album is pressed on 140-gram clear vinyl.
