Former Styx frontman Dennis DeYoung presents the second volume of his farewell to recorded music, "26 East, Vol. 2.” Continuing the rock roots reminiscent of Styx, "26 East, Vol. 2" showcases epic production, exceptional musicianship, and timeless vocal arrangements. This album serves as a poignant goodbye and a final testament to DeYoung's remarkable musical legacy that will endure the test of time.
DeYoung had initially intended "26 East” to be his final musical endeavor. However, due to the abundance of material, Frontiers CEO, Serafino Perugino, suggested splitting the album into two parts. This second installment seamlessly picks up where the first left off, with DeYoung once again collaborating with the talented Jim Peterik, a fellow Chicagoan and neighbor, on select tracks.
The album's title, "26 East,” holds sentimental significance as it refers to the address where DeYoung's musical journey began in Roseland, IL, on the south side of Chicago. It was in this neighborhood that the foundation of Styx was laid in DeYoung's basement in 1962, alongside the Panozzo twins, John and Chuck.
The creative process behind the album was sparked when Jim Peterik, a close friend and collaborator, shared a song with DeYoung. Their partnership and mutual inspiration led to the creation of this music, with DeYoung acknowledging Peterik's instrumental role in bringing the
