'3 Feet High and Rising' is the debut studio album from the hip hop trio De La Soul. Released on March 3, 1989, the album marked the first of three collaborations with producer Prince Paul. The title of the album was inspired by Johnny Cash's song "Five Feet High and Rising". Departing from the popular hardcore-style and violent hip hop of the time, De La Soul's positive lyrics helped them stand out, particularly with their single "Me, Myself and I." Through their innovative use of sampling, '3 Feet High and Rising' is often recognized as a pioneer of 1990s alternative hip hop and jazz rap. This version is a double magenta colored vinyl LP pressing.
