BLACK MESSIAH, nearly 15 years in the making, features 12 tracks of timeless music with poignant and provocative lyrics that demand repeat listening at maximum volume. D'Angelo is accompanied by his band, the Vanguard, as well as Pino Palladino, James Gadson, and Questlove on various tracks. All lyrics were penned by D'Angelo, with contributions from Q-Tip and Kendra Foster on select songs. The album showcases high-quality live musicianship, emphasizing that no digital 'plug-ins' were used in the recording process. Instead, all recording, processing, effects, and mixing were executed in the analog domain using tape and predominantly vintage equipment. Includes the single "Really Love."
