Blanck Mass, the solo project of Benjamin John Power (known for his work with Fuck Buttons), released his debut album in 2011 on Rock Action Records. The vinyl quickly went out of print and has been scarce ever since. Now, after nine years, Sacred Bones Records is proud to reissue this sought-after album. Originally described as a musical exploration inspired by Carl Sagan, Ennio Morricone, and the vastness of nature, the album features ten tracks that delve into themes of cerebral hypoxia and the intricate beauty of the natural world. Self-produced by Power in London between Summer and Winter 2010, the album presents an otherworldly sonic journey that defies easy categorization, revealing new layers with each listen. Departing from current trends, the record carries a sense of unresolved tension, akin to a perpetual search or an unattainable goal. The music is characterized by a blend of heavy, shimmering orchestral elements, electric guitars, manipulated field recordings, warm analogue synths, deep drones, and heavy sub-bass, creating a rich and emotive sound palette that mirrors the expansive vision of Blanck Mass.
