Boredom Euphoria

Joys Union Group is a new Texas band that blends new age, jazz, and "New Weird America"-esque psychedelia. Trouble In Mind proudly presents their debut album, "Boredom Euphoria". The band is spearheaded by Neil Lord (Future Museums), featuring Michael C. Sharp (Uniform, Sungod, Impalers), Kristine Reaume (Sungod), and Dailey Toliver (Molly Burch). The album was mixed by Ben Greenberg and mastered by Andrew Weathers. While still exploring ambient and kosmiche influences reminiscent of Lord's solo work with Future Museums, Joys Union Group embodies an organic, vibrant essence, rather than a mere sequence of electronic sounds. The album opens with the tranquil "Cloud Paint", setting a serene tone akin to a spring sunrise. The title track, "Boredom Euphoria", follows with rhythmic drive under guitar and keyboard layers, complemented by a shimmering flute melody. Tracks like "Shimmering Surface" and "Portrero" exude a Texan melancholy, reminiscent of Bruce Langhorne's "Hired Hand" soundtrack. "Fragile Chrysalis" on side two combines drum swells and horn accents, reminiscent of Electric Miles meeting Bardo Pond.
