Felt 3: A Tribute To Rosie Perez

Back in the early 2000s, two rising stars of the independent Hip-Hop scene, Slug (Atmosphere/Rhymesayers) and Murs (Living Legends), collaborated to create music and pay tribute to a Hollywood actress they believed was undervalued. Stepping away from their solo projects, the two MCs shared beats and traded bars, engaging in a friendly challenge in their back-and-forth delivery. What began as a cathartic exercise evolved into a series of remarkable releases as Murs and Slug periodically reunited to produce new Felt records. Each album featured a different producer/friend, giving each release a unique feel distinct from the last. Following Felt 1: A Tribute to Christina Ricci (2002, produced by The Grouch) and Felt 2: A Tribute to Lisa Bonet (2005, produced by Ant), the duo returned in 2009 with Felt 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez, produced by indie Hip-Hop legend Aesop Rock. While maintaining some of the lightheartedness of their previous works, this third installment took on a darker tone, exploring more serious subject matter. The album showcased some of their best work, including tracks like "Permanent Standby," "Protagonists," "Bass For Your Truck," and "Felt Chewed Up."
