The Alice Comedies is a series of animated/live-action shorts created by Walt Disney in the 1920s. It features a live-action little girl named Alice (originally played by Virginia Davis) and an animated cat named Julius who have adventures in an animated landscape. The Magic Clock is a whirlwind mishmash of motifs drawing on a wide range of sources, including Hoffman's The Nutcracker, Arabian Nights, Ovid, Midsummer Night's Dream, Peter Pan, Mallarme's “Afternoon of a Faun,” and Novalis' blue flower. Paul Dessau, a German composer and conductor, is known for his operas, scenic plays, ballets, symphonies, and other works for orchestra. This 180 gram audiophile vinyl includes an insert with liner notes and images from the animated series, as well as a PVC protective sleeve. It is available on vinyl for the first time and features music written for Walt Disney's 1920s animated series “Alice Comedies” and for the Magic Clock by Ladislaw Starewicz. The music is composed by Paul Dessau, conducted by Hans E. Zimmer, and performed by RIAS Sinfonietta. Paul Dessau is best known for his collaborations with Bertolt Brecht. This is a limited 25th-anniversary edition of 500 individually numbered copies on transparent pink colored vinyl.
