There was no grand master plan that brought together renowned jazz instrumentalists Bob James (keyboards), Lee Ritenour (guitar), Nathan East (bass), and Harvey Mason (drums) to form the supergroup Fourplay. Their self-titled debut album, released in September 1991, became the cornerstone of their successful career. Fueled by the hit single 'After The Dance,' the album topped America's Contemporary Jazz charts for an impressive 33 weeks, selling over a million copies. It also reached No. 16 on the R&B charts and No. 97 on The Billboard 200.

Now, three decades later, evosound celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Fourplay by reissuing the album as a 180g double LP in a gatefold sleeve. The reissue includes a previously unreleased extended version of 'After The Dance' featuring El DeBarge. The remastering and lacquer cutting were meticulously done using high-resolution digital transfers from the original analogue master tapes. The limited edition blue vinyl is numbered and restricted to 1000 copies, with a standard black vinyl version also available.
