It was the band's last studio album released by Geffen before returning to Columbia Records. The album features guest appearances by Don Henley, who sang backup on "Amazing," and Lenny Kravitz, who provided backup vocals and collaborated on "Line Up." Similar to "Permanent Vacation" and "Pump," "Get a Grip" includes songs co-written with outside collaborators such as Desmond Child, Jim Vallance, Mark Hudson, Richie Supa, Taylor Rhodes, Jack Blades, and Tommy Shaw. With worldwide sales exceeding 20 million copies, "Get a Grip" is Aerosmith's best-selling studio album and is tied with "Pump" as their second best-selling album in the United States, having sold over 7 million copies as of 1995.
