Alfonso Cuarón's 1998 film transformed elements of the original Charles Dickens novel into a contemporary setting, with characters like Abel Magwitch becoming Arthur Lustig, Miss Havisham turning into Nora Dinsmoor, and Pip evolving into Finn. The backdrop shifted from early 19th century London to 1990s New York, reflecting a new era. The soundtrack, featuring tracks by artists such as Chris Cornell ("Sunshower"), Pulp, Scott Weiland, Iggy Pop, and The Verve Pipe, captured the essence of the late 20th-century music scene. Unexpected additions like Cesaria Evora and Grateful Dead added depth to the collection. Noteworthy is Tori Amos's composition "Siren" for the movie and Poe's "Today," a track exclusive to the soundtrack release. Originally available only on CD, vinyl collectors have long awaited the release of "Great Expectations: The Album" on wax. This 2-LP set comes in a stunning gatefold jacket, pressed on emerald green vinyl to complement Gwyneth Paltrow's iconic dress from the film. Limited edition.
