Over the last 15 years, The War on Drugs has steadily emerged as one of this century's great rock and roll synthesists, bridging the gaps between the underground and the mainstream, between the obtuse and the anthemic. They craft records that weave a fractured past into a unified and captivating present. With their fifth studio album, "I Don't Live Here Anymore," The War On Drugs showcases their exceptional ability to create an uncommon rock album that delves into one of life's most common yet challenging processes - resilience in the face of despair.

Mere weeks after The War On Drugs' "A Deeper Understanding" received the 2018 Grammy for Best Rock Album, the core members - Granduciel, bassist Dave Hartley, and multi-instrumentalist Anthony LaMarca - retreated to upstate New York to jam and produce new demos. This marked a departure from their usual roles in the live setting, resulting in early versions of some of the most immediate tracks on "I Don't Live Here Anymore." This initial session sparked a journey spanning three years and seven studios, including iconic locations like Electric Lady in New York and Sound City in Los Angeles. Band leader Adam Granduciel and trusted co-producer/engineer Shawn Everett dedicated countless hours to deconstructing and reconstructing each song.
