Released after their hit single 'Fairytale of New York', it became their best-selling album, peaking at #3 in the UK Album charts and reaching the Top Ten in several other countries. The album marked the departure of original bassist Cait O'Riordan and the addition of Darryl Hunt, Phil Chevron, and Terry Woods to the line-up. Woods and Chevron, the only Irish-born members, contributed original songs, expanding the band's musical influences beyond Irish folk/punk to include styles from Turkey and Spain.
