Venom is an English extreme metal band formed in 1979 in Newcastle upon Tyne. Rising to fame during the new wave of British heavy metal, Venom's initial albums, "Welcome to Hell" (1981) and "Black Metal" (1982), are recognized as pivotal influences on thrash and extreme metal. The band's second album was so influential that it gave name to the black metal subgenre. The classic lineup of Cronos, Mantas, and Abaddon produced two more studio albums, "At War With Satan" (1984) and "Possessed" (1985), along with the live album "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" (1986). Venom has been acknowledged by bands like Metallica, Behemoth, Celtic Frost, and Mayhem as a significant inspiration, solidifying their status as one of the most respected bands of their era. Fronted by original singer/bassist Cronos, Venom continues to headline global festivals and release new music. "In Nomine Satanas" commemorates the band's early years, featuring twenty-two of their most malevolent tracks. Remastered and pressed on double splatter vinyl to mark 40 years of infernal music, the album also includes a new interview with Cronos, Mantas, and Abaddon.
