Drummer Mike Portnoy expressed his excitement about returning to writing individual songs, stating, "After two sprawling back-to-back double concept albums in a row, it was refreshing to get back to writing a collection of unrelated individual songs in the vein of our first album." Six years following "The Grand Experiment," Neal Morse is more enthusiastic than ever about the band's synergy on "Innocence & Danger." He praises his bandmates, highlighting Mike's powerful drums, Randy's solid bass foundation, and Eric's increasingly impressive vocals. Morse also commends the seamless collaboration in vocals and solo performances among the band members.
