Louisiana native John Fred was born in Baton Rouge and was a prominent garage band leader in New Orleans throughout the 1960s. He and his Playboy Band are best known for their 1968 number 1 bubblegum pop rock single, "Judy In Disguise (With Glasses)." The band released four albums on Paula Records during the late '60s, with the album named after their hit single being an underground psychedelic bubblegum pop gem highly sought after by record collectors worldwide. None of their albums have been re-released on vinyl.
