Lazer Guided Melodies is the first installment in Fat Possum's four-part "Dronevil" series.

This limited special edition is pressed on 180g white vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve with heavyweight custom inner sleeves. Regarding the mastering and manufacturing process, this release was mastered from a half-speed lacquer cut from original sources by Alchemy Mastering. Barry Grint ("Bazza"), Alchemy's senior mastering engineer, handled the mastering and cutting for side A. GZ Media manufactured metal stampers from Alchemy's lacquer master, and Memphis Record Pressing used GZ's stampers to press the vinyl.

Each runout on sides A-D includes both stamped and hand-etched sections and characters. The stamped characters are often inverted (upside-down) relative to the hand-etched sections. For simplicity, runouts are presented in sectional sequence as encountered by the needle, with inverted sections in reading order.

The sleeve text provides insight into the recording process, including details about the original recordings and mixing locations. The artwork for this special edition showcases new photographs of the model figures created for the original album artwork by Gavin Lindsay, based on a drawing by Mr Ugly (Nicholas Brooker).
