Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. "Les Racines" is the 2022 solo album from the eminent guitarist and songwriter Vieux Farka Touré, and his first for World Circuit Records. Known as the 'Hendrix of the Sahara', Vieux has released four critically acclaimed solo albums to date, pushing the boundaries of traditional West African music into new and uncharted territory. He has collaborated with artists such as Dave Matthews, jazz guitarist John Scofield, American singer-songwriter Julia Easterlin, and Israeli singer-songwriter Idan Raichel. In "Les Racines," meaning 'the roots,' Vieux explores a profound reconnection with the traditional Songhai music of northern Mali, a tradition recognized in the West as 'Desert Blues'.
