A complex and sometimes belligerent character in real life, on record, John Martyn was the epitome of the folk-dreamer, embodying the spirit of the burgeoning London acoustic scene of the late 60s. Well-known and respected for his 70s albums "Solid Air" and "One World," "London Conversation" marks the beginning of his musical journey. Originally released in October 1967, this album was the debut release by the first 'rock' signing to Chris Blackwell's Island Records. Featuring eight out of twelve tracks written by Martyn himself, it is evident why Blackwell was a strong supporter of his work. The standout track "Rolling Home" with its five-minute plus sitar drone hinted at the musical possibilities that would unfold in Martyn's career. The album cover depicts the earnest folky musician seated among the chimney tops of the capital, strumming his acoustic guitar. Martyn was both a part of the scene and transcendent above it. This reissue is pressed onto high-quality 180g vinyl.
