Mordechai is a tale of self-discovery in unforeseen circumstances. After 24 months of constant travel and touring, Laura Lee, feeling weary and without a place to call home, embarked on a hike with a group of strangers guided by a man named Mordechai. It was on this unexpected journey, following countless others, that she experienced a spiritual awakening and a new beginning. Drawing inspiration from various musical traditions such as those of Thailand and Iran, Khruangbin delved even deeper into diverse and global influences by reflecting on their roots in their hometown of Houston, TX, known for its cultural diversity. With Laura Lee's vocals now prominently featured amidst a fusion of musical styles from 14 different languages, Khruangbin has achieved a unique unity in diversity. This vinyl LP pressing, released in 2020, showcases their musical evolution.
