'Music Box' is the third studio album by Mariah Carey. Originally released on August 31, 1993, the album features ballads primarily written by Carey and Walter Afanasieff, with whom she had collaborated on her previous album, 'Emotions' (1991), along with a few urban dance tracks. Carey aimed to expand her audience by incorporating a more pop/R&B sound into the album. Throughout the album's development, she explored new musical instruments, resulting in a departure from her previous contemporary efforts. This vinyl LP pressing includes a digital download and has been digitally remastered.
