Double 180 gram vinyl LP pressing. "Pop" is the ninth studio album by Irish rock band U2. Produced by Flood, Howie B, and Steve Osborne, the album was released on March 3, 1997, on Island Records. Building on their musical reinvention in the 1990s, U2 incorporated alternative rock, techno, dance, and electronica influences into their sound. "Pop" showcases a range of production techniques new to U2 at the time, including sampling, loops, programmed drum machines, and sequencing. Recording sessions commenced in 1995 with producers such as Nellee Hooper, Flood, Howie B, and Osborne, who introduced the band to various electronica influences.
