Electronic pop trailblazers, Röyksopp, present the second part of their expansive Profound Mysteries project, Profound Mysteries II. Berge and Brundtland describe Profound Mysteries as the most significant endeavor of Röyksopp's career. It encapsulates the unique sound they have refined over decades while pushing its boundaries. This project is a bold leap into the future and a tribute to the artists, genres, and musical movements that have influenced them. Profound Mysteries has been a lifelong project for them, with some ideas dating back to their teenage years in the 1990s. The album is characterized by a wealth of collaborations, with strings and woodwind recorded in New York, Berlin, and Paris, and guest vocals from both familiar and new artists. Each track is accompanied by an 'artefact' and 'visualiser' created by Australian contemporary artist Jonathan Zawada, along with a short film produced in collaboration with Scandinavian production agency Bacon.

Released in a gatefold sleeve with spot varnish in certain areas, including writing and symbols on the front and inner left side. This edition comes with a download card and printed cardstock inner sleeves, all featuring a bright yellow verso. The sticker on the shrinkwrap reads "Röyksopp Profound Mysteries II," although the volume number II is not found elsewhere on the release. Additionally, the rear sleeve is machine numbered in the bottom right corner as xxxx/9000. Notably, all runouts feature hand-etched symbols such as ∧x, 1∆, +v, and 1∧, which are very faint and appear mirrored.
