Profound Mysteries III

Electronic pop trailblazers, Röyksopp, present the second part of their expansive Profound Mysteries project, Profound Mysteries II. Berge and Brundtland describe Profound Mysteries as the most significant endeavor of Röyksopp's career. It encapsulates the unique sound they have refined over decades while pushing its boundaries. This project is a bold leap into the future and a tribute to the artists, genres, and musical movements that initially influenced them. Profound Mysteries has been a lifelong project for them, with some ideas dating back to their teenage years in the 1990s. The album is characterized by a rich tapestry of collaborations. While most of the record was written, performed, and engineered by Berge and Brundtland in Norway, they also collaborated with artists worldwide. For this project, Röyksopp recorded strings and woodwind in New York, Berlin, and Paris, and featured guest vocals from both familiar names in the Röyksopp universe (Susanne Sundfør) and new additions (Allison Goldfrapp, Beki Mari, Astrid S, Karen Harding, Pixx, and Jamie Irrepressible). Each track is accompanied by an 'artefact' and 'visualiser' created by Australian contemporary artist Jonathan Zawada, along with a short film produced in collaboration with Scandinavian production agency Bacon.
