Since the release of his last album in 2017, "Finding Shore," a collaboration with Brian Eno, pianist and singer-songwriter Tom Rogerson has experienced significant life changes. While working on his latest album, "Retreat to Bliss," Rogerson became a parent, lost a parent, and received a diagnosis of a rare form of blood cancer. Transitioning into the new decade, he moved from Berlin back to Suffolk, his childhood home, where he composed introspective pieces of minimal songwriting in the church near his parents' house.
Rogerson's musical journey includes studying composition at the Royal Academy of Music under mentors like Harrison Birtwistle. He made his debut as an improvising pianist in 2002 and released an improvised record with Reid Anderson and Mike Lewis in 2004. In 2007, he founded the band Three Trapped Tigers, known for blending electronic, jazz, and noise rock elements seamlessly. The band gained recognition for their innovative live performances and collaborations with artists such as Brian Eno, Deftones, and the Dillinger Escape Plan. Collaborating with Eno, a fellow Suffolk native, inspired Rogerson to reconnect with his roots and create "Retreat to Bliss," his debut solo album.
