Released 2003, US

Room on Fire is the second studio album by American indie rock band The Strokes. Released in October 2003, the album follows 2001's Is This It and includes three singles: "12:51", "Reptilia", and "The End Has No End." The band initially worked with Grammy-winning producer Nigel Godrich, but ultimately returned to Is This It producer Gordon Raphael due to feeling the songs lacked soul. The album presents a slightly smoother sound compared to its predecessor, with the bass guitar taking a less prominent role, except for key moments where it becomes the focal point. The album's title, Room on Fire, is inspired by a line from "Reptilia": "The room is on fire as she's fixing her hair." Room on Fire was well-received upon its release, reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart and debuting at number four on the U.S. Billboard 200. It went on to sell 597,000 units by October 2006 and was certified Gold.
