Vinyl LP pressing. Glasgow drummer and composer Graham Costello presents his second STRATA album, "Second Lives". This album explores a fusion of Reichian minimalism, semi-free jazz reminiscent of Binker and Moses, polyrhythmic math rock, and introspective cinematic ambience. Recorded straight to tape at RAK Studios with co-producer and engineer Hugh Padgham, mixed at British Grove, and mastered in-house at Gearbox. "Second Lives" delves into themes of identity, heritage, Stoicism, and the journey of overcoming inner challenges.

On April 12, 2021, Gearbox Records announced a delay in the vinyl release of Graham Costello's Second Lives album due to pressing issues affecting playback quality, particularly on low-compliance cartridge turntables. A corrected vinyl edition is expected to be released in the summer. Some flawed copies were inadvertently shipped to preorder customers in late March 2021 ahead of the original May 7 release date.

The track A1 title is listed as "အစ" on the sleeve but as "အစ ('a ca)" on the center label. The release credits mention "cut by Caspar Sutton-Jones," yet the side B runout features a "DAZ" etching, indicating a Darrel Sheinman cut.

According to Graham Costello's liner notes, the album is entirely analogue, with no computer intervention, featuring full takes and minimal overdubs.

Selected insert text reveals that the album was recorded and mixed directly to analogue tape, mastered using Decca valve equalization and Telefunken U73b compression and limiting, and cut on a Haeco Scully lathe with Westrex RA1700 series amps and a
