Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. "Southern Accents" is the sixth album by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, released on March 26, 1985. The album reached #7 on the Billboard 200 chart. The lead single, "Don't Come Around Here No More," co-written by Dave Stewart of Eurythmics (who also produced the album), peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album is a loose concept album exploring the modern South, incorporating elements of psychedelia, soul, and country. Tom Petty, known as the lead singer of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, was also a member and co-founder of the late 1980s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys (under the pseudonyms of Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr. and Muddy Wilbury), as well as his early band Mudcrutch. With numerous hit singles both with the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist, Petty's music spans adult contemporary and classic rock genres. His music has been described as rock and roll, heartland rock, and stoner rock, appealing to audiences across generations. Having sold over 80 million records worldwide, Tom Petty is recognized as one of the best-selling music artists of all time. In 2002, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
