In the 10th volume of the Field Works series, titled "Stations," producer Stuart Hyatt explores the question of what the Earth sounds like alongside a team of scientists involved in the EarthScope experiment. Through the use of advanced ground recording devices, Field Works has crafted a unique musical experience where human voices harmonize with the Earth's own voice. The album features a talented lineup of vocalists and instrumentalists, including Hanna Benn, Janie Cowan, Masayoshi Fujita, Stuart Hyatt, Laraaji, Qasim Naqvi, and Brad Weber. The deluxe vinyl edition also includes a bonus digital album featuring peer reviews by notable artists such as Deantoni Parks, Green-House, and Afrodeutsche, among others.
Additionally, the hardcover book "Stations: Listening to the Deep Earth" is available for purchase through the Dutch publisher Jap Sam Books. All songs on the album are by Field Works, with seismic data sourced from the remote seismic monitoring stations listed on each track and processed by Stuart Hyatt and Debi Kilb using a custom Matlab script called SeisSoundm.
The album showcases a blend of vocals, upright bass, vibraphone, guitar, modular synths, beats, and percussion across its tracks, with each part meticulously written and recorded by the respective artists. The packaging layout and design are handled by PRINTtEXT, with photos courtesy of the Iris Consortium and Hanna Craig. "Stations" was arranged and produced by
