The recordings were engineered at Hansa Tonstudios and Vielklang in Berlin, Trident in London, and The Strongroom in London between August 1987 and January 1988, with the exception of "Mercy" and "Alice," which were recorded at The Studio in Richmond, Australia. The mixes were engineered at The Strongroom in January 1988 and at The Power Plant in Carlton, Australia, in March 1988, except for "Alice," which was recorded at The Studio in Richmond, Australia.

This album is dedicated to Ferdinand Ramos, better known as "PIXOTE," who is remembered for his brilliant performance in the film of the same name. He was tragically killed by São Paulo police in November 1987 at the age of 19.
