Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Known for her time as a vocalist in Fairport Convention, Sandy Denny left behind a beguiling and ever-evolving body of work. After departing from Fairport Convention in late 1969, Sandy Denny co-founded Fotheringay with her husband Trevor Lucas. Following the success of one UK Top 20 LP in the summer of 1970, the band disbanded while in the process of recording a follow-up album, which led Denny to embark on her first solo project. A captivating blend of covers and original compositions, "The North Star Grass Man And The Ravens" stands out as one of the quintessential British folk-rock albums. From the dreamlike 'Late November' to the plaintive 'Next Time Around' and her rendition of the traditional standard 'Blackwaterside', the album beautifully showcases the talent prevalent in the music scene at that time. Featuring Richard Thompson's distinctive guitar playing, John Wood's production, and Harry Robinson's string arrangements, the album offers a near-perfect snapshot of the era. Originally released in September 1971, the album's reputation has continued to soar over the years. After being out of print on LP for an extended period, this reissue faithfully reproduces the original 1971 Island Records UK release.
