After departing from Fairport Convention in late 1969, Sandy Denny co-founded Fotheringay with her husband Trevor Lucas. Following the success of one UK Top 20 LP in the summer of 1970, the band disbanded while in the process of recording a follow-up album, which led Denny to embark on her first solo project.
