Reggae legend Leonard Dillon, also known as the Ethiopian, was a founding member of the renowned ska, rocksteady, and early reggae group The Ethiopians. Initially starting his career under the name Jack Sparrow, Dillon's early solo singles, some of which were supported by The Wailers, did not achieve significant success. This led him to establish The Ethiopians, where he finally found his breakthrough. Their hit track "Train To Skaville" propelled the group to international fame, allowing them to tour outside Jamaica, including a successful visit to the U.K. in 1968. The song sold over 50,000 copies in Jamaica and even made a brief appearance on the U.K. charts, leaving a lasting impact on the music scene. Such was its influence that it was later covered by The Selector during the ska revival of the early '80s.
