Released 2019, US

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing housed in a Stoughton tip-on sleeve. Recorded in a cold, amenity-free studio during the Midwestern winter of 1999, The White Stripes' debut LP stands alone as the most raw, unpolished, and "Detroit"-sounding recording the band would ever produce. The duo, consisting of Jack and Meg White, started their musical journey on Bastille Day, 1996. Jack was captivated by Meg's drumming on his set, finding it to be a "liberating, refreshing" sound akin to that of a lark. Meg's drumming style is often described as "primal" due to its simplicity. Despite being once married, the Whites pretended to be siblings, enhancing their enigmatic partnership by dressing solely in shades of red, black, or white. This debut EP effortlessly blends elements of punk, metal, blues, and arena rock while maintaining a measured economy in its execution. The album also features covers of Robert Johnson's "Stop Breakin' Down" and Bob Dylan's "One More Cup of Coffee," both of which offer haunting renditions that are truly captivating.
