Vinyl LP pressing. 2022 release. In 2019, Arlo McKinley played a show at the High Watt in Nashville. While he had years of experience on the DIY singer-songwriter circuit, this particular night stood out. In the audience was one of his musical heroes, John Prine. When they briefly met, Prine, known for his discerning taste, expressed his admiration for Arlo's music. McKinley fondly recalls this moment as one of the highlights of his career. However, this encounter marked the beginning of a new chapter for Arlo. Following this meeting, he was signed to Oh Boy Records, Prine's esteemed indie label.
Entering 2020 with the anticipation of a new album - his first collaboration with a producer and a dedicated street team - and an international tour scheduled, Arlo's plans were abruptly disrupted by unforeseen global events. Despite the challenges faced, McKinley remains hopeful for the future, envisioning easier touring conditions and the opportunity to debut in Europe during the upcoming summer.
Reflecting on his latest album, "This Mess We're In," Arlo shares his aspiration for listeners to find solace in his music. He aims to address topics often shrouded in stigma, such as addiction and mental health, encouraging individuals to feel understood and less isolated. Through the 47-minute duration of the album, Arlo hopes to provide a temporary escape from the complexities of the world, offering a moment of respite
