Double 180gm vinyl LP pressing. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition was mastered by Kevin Gray. The talented pianist and composer Geri Allen emerged from Detroit's vibrant jazz scene, later relocating to New York where she became involved with the innovative M-Base collective, known for pioneering new ideas and approaches to jazz in the 1980s. Allen's collaboration with bassist Ron Carter and drummer Tony Williams on her third Blue Note album, "Twenty One," recorded in 1994, resulted in a dynamic trio date. The album features Allen's remarkable lyricism, boundless harmonic and rhythmic creativity, and includes her compelling originals such as "Feed The Fire," "RTG," and "In The Morning," as well as classic standards like "If I Should Lose You," "Tea For Two," "Lullaby Of The Leaves," and "Old Folks," along with pieces by Thelonious Monk such as "Introspection/Thelonious."
