In March 1975, Jim Sullivan mysteriously disappeared outside Santa Rosa, New Mexico. His VW bug was found abandoned, his motel room untouched. Some speculate he got lost in the desert, others believe he may have crossed paths with a local family tied to the mafia, while some even entertain the idea that he was abducted by aliens. Coincidentally, Jim's 1969 debut album was titled U. F. O. Released in limited numbers on a private label, it remained obscure until Seattle's Light In The Attic Records embarked on a mission to give it the recognition it deserves and unravel the enigma surrounding Sullivan's vanishing. Only one of these objectives was achieved. For avid record collectors, certain albums are deemed nearly impossible to acquire, with some being so scarce that one could scour eBay for years without a glimpse of a copy. U. F. O. falls into this category. Jim Sullivan, a seventh son, was a West Coast talent on the brink of stardom. An Irish-American and former high school quarterback, his knack for storytelling garnered him a devoted following at the Malibu bar where he entertained nightly. Sullivan perpetually teetered on the cusp of fame, rubbing shoulders with celebrities like Harry Dean Stanton, making appearances on the Jose Feliciano show, and even securing a cameo in the iconic counterculture film, Easy Rider.
