Released 2023, Worldwide

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. From a group of school friends aspiring to be 'the British Jefferson Airplane', Fairport Convention evolved into the foremost exponents of British folk rock. Drawing inspiration from traditional English folk songs and infusing them with rock rhythms, they created a groundbreaking sound that was quickly emulated. Featuring the considerable talents of Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny, Ashley Hutchings, Ian Matthews, Dave Swarbrick, and Dave Mattacks, this album captures the band's transition and growing confidence. Noteworthy tracks include covers of three Bob Dylan songs, one of which, "Si Tu Dois Partir," sung in French, became a Top 30 UK hit single. Sandy Denny's poignant "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" and the epic "A Sailor's Life," a traditional folk song arranged by Simon Nicol and Richard Thompson, stand out on this record. Recorded between January and April 1969, 'Unhalfbricking' showcases Fairport Convention at a pivotal moment in their musical journey.
