In 2023, R.E.M.'s 11th studio album, UP, will celebrate its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the album has been remastered and is reissued as a 2LP on 180 g. vinyl. "Up" marked a distinct shift in R.E.M.'s musical style, incorporating more electronic elements and experimental sounds compared to their previous albums. This was partly influenced by the departure of drummer Bill Berry in 1997, which led the remaining members to explore new musical territories. The album features the singles "Lotus," "Suspicion," "At My Most Beautiful," and standout track "Daysleeper," which was the lead single.
