Valtari is Sigur Rós' sixth studio album, initially released in 2012 on XL Recordings. The band began recording Valtari, which they described as 'an avalanche in slow motion,' in 2009, co-producing it with Alex Somers in Reykjavik, Iceland. The title translates to 'roller' in English, a fitting description according to Jónsi, as the album is "big and slow and rolls over you slowly." Currently out of print globally, Valtari will be re-released through the band's own label, Krunk, on double heavyweight vinyl.
